A Dangerous Precedent: The Firing Of Rick Wagoner

Rick Wagoner

Rick Wagoner

President Obama personally fired GM CEO Rick Wagoner.  I couldn’t belive that this had happened.  Part of me wants to boast: “I told you so!”  Part of me wants to cry.

It seems to me and anyone else with any sense that President Obama’s charge toward socialism is at full throttle.

It doesn’t end there. It seems that the Obama administration not only wants the authority to seize control of companies that have taken Government assistance, but any corporation that they well please.

I have a question for you liberals out there:  Where in the Constitution does the President Of The United States get the authority to fire ANYONE?  Liberals are quick to point out that since GM took a Government loan, the Government should have the right to take such action.  I have another question: Does your car loan company get to tell you what brand of gasoline you can put in your car?  Does your mortgage company get to tell you what kind of food you can eat in your house?  If we’re going to allow this, then will President Obama personally tell these lazy, useless slugs who are career welfare recipients to put down the booze and get a damned job?

If this reads as me being a bit angry you’re right.  I am livid.  If we allow this to go unchecked, you’d better believe that we’re on the highway straight for socialism.

As it stands, the SEIU has now been emboldened by this move, and are now calling for President Obama to fire Bank Of America CEO Ken Lewis.  In case you didn’t know, the SEIU has desperately wanted B of A to fire Lewis.  Where will it end?

It’s time to wake up, it’s time to take action.  We cannot let this pass silently.  This administration will attempt to take as many of your freedoms as you let them.

Newt Gingrich Joins Roman Catholic Church

Newt Gingrich

Newt Gingrich

On Sunday, March 29th, 2009, Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R - GA) was confirmed into the Roman Catholic Church.

As a Catholic myself, I would like to take a moment to congratulate Newt and welcome him into the faith.

Newt was confirmed Sunday night at St Joseph’s in Washington, DC. He had been a Baptist most of his life before beginning RCIA (the process for converting to Catholocism).  His wife, Callista, is also a Roman Catholic.

God Bless you, Newt. Congratulations and welcome home.

What Credit Crisis?

Okay, so I’m about to divulge some personal information here.  It’s not something I particularly like doing but I do need to prove a point.

I keep hearing the Obamabots talking about how tough the credit market is.  It seems, if you listen to them, that getting financing for so much as a lollipop is next to impossible, even if you have spectacular credit and lots of cash on hand.

I can attest, from first hand experience, that this is a bold-faced lie.

A few weeks ago, in desperate need of a new set of wheels, my fiancee and I stopped at a dealership near her house.  I had not planned on spending a lot of money on a car, at all.  Anyway, we pull in and a very friendly salesman walks up to us.  He starts asking the usual questions: What kind of car are you looking for?  Cash or finance?  Etc., Etc… So I answer him, and he informs me that he thinks he can get us into a car.

Mind you, my credit is abyssmal.  I didn’t think that I could finanace a candy bar when the money was free flowing, let alone with the so-called credit crunch that’s supposed to be going on.

I really don’t make THAT much money, nor do I have much in savings.  In my mind, I was not a candidate for a car loan.  This salesman, however, seemed convinced that he could get a deal done.  I figured I’d let him waste his time.

Not only did he get me financed on less than 20% down, he got me into a nice car.  Certainly the nicest one I’ve ever owned.

So, for those of you running around screaming and hollaring that the economic sky is falling, it’s really not as bad as they would have you think.

Of course, they WANT you to think that things are really bad, you won’t complain about your freedoms being taken so much if you do.  Didn’t Rahm Emmanuel say ‘This is too good a crisis to waste?’

Voter’s Remorse?

I have a question just for you ObamaBots:

Just thought I’d ask.

Think The Unions Are For The Little Guy? (Or, EFCA? Eff You!)

Do you think that the unions are for the little guy?  The blue collar working guy who just wants a fair wage and a few benefits?  Think again.  They’re after the money.

Case in point: This week’s AFL-CIO Winter Meeting at the Fontainebleau Resort in Miami Beach, Florida.  The most affordable room at the hotel is $399/night, and that’s without an ocean view.  You guessed it, the more desirable rooms are far, far more costly.  You don’t REALLY think that the union execs stayed in rooms without views, do you?

I find it very odd the lack of media attention this has gotten.  No, I don’t.  When you consider the skewering that Corporate CEO’s take for the salaries they make, and add in that many union presidents make six figure incomes, some over a half million dollars a year (or more than ten times what many of the rank-in-file members make at top scale), you would think that this would get more attention.

However, there is not a peep from the left or the leftist media.  No criticism for the extravagant use of the rank-in-file’s union dues.  No condemnation for the high incomes of union presidents or calls for these meetings to be held at a more modest venue.  All this during a down economy.  All this while union jobs are being shipped overseas.  All this while dues paying union members fear losing their jobs.  But that’s okay, because these are union executives and we all know how in bed with the left they are.  These execs get pampered at a resort that most rank-in-file members could never hope to stay at for one night, let alone a whole week.

This, ladies and gentlemen is the motivation behind EFCA.  Otherwise known as the Employee Free Choice Act, it has precious little to do with ‘free choice.’  What this act is about is inflating the roles of the unions, and we all know what comes with union membership: dues.  You pay dues without regard for if you actually want to be in the union (so much for ‘free choice’).  You pay dues without regard for your political inclinations, your dues will be used to get democrats elected.  As a former member of UFCW, I know first hand how little the unions do to earn those dues.

So, what exactly is EFCA?  It is a law that the liberals in congress, with the backing of the unions and President Obama, are working on getting passed.  What this law will do is, essentially, allow a union boss to come in to a company and conduct a ‘card check.’  If 51% of the workers at a company decide to sign an authorization, either by choice or coersion, the company has to deal with the union.  Yes, I said coersion… oh, right, the unions have NEVER been known to change a few minds via coersion.  No more secret ballots. No more anonymity in voting.

Back to coersion for a moment.  We all know the mob mentallity that the unionistas have.  If you disagree with unionization, don’t think for a moment that these people will not engage in thuggery.  Don’t think for a moment that you will not get visits to your house, harassing phone calls and threats against yourself or your family.  I am, in fact, risking these very things by writing this article.  Fortunately, as a conservative and believer in the 2nd amendment, I know how to deal with this.

Ladies and gentlemen: If you are on the fence about this, I strongly encourage you to do your homework.  Follow the money.  Read the history.  If you are a union member and think that they are looking out for you, think again.  They’re just like any other business, and are only after your money.

Think You’re Getting A Tax Cut?

So, if you make less than $250,000 a year, you’re supposed to be getting a whopping… what is it, $13 a week starting April 1st?

Consider this: If you smoke, you’re likely poor.  Your taxes will be going up by $1/pack starting April 1, too.  If you roll your own, your taxes will be going up by about $24/lb of tobacco.

If you’re poor, you probably drive an older, less fuel efficient car.  Under Obama’s budget proposal, you’ll be paying more for the gas that you use more of.  No tax credit for you for buying a new hybrid or golf-cart-disguised-as-a-real-car, because you can’t afford it to begin with.

If you’re poor, you probably live in a house that’s less than ‘green.’  No new windows or retrofits to make your house more energy efficient, because you can’t afford it.  Of course, that means that you probably use more energy to heat it in the winter.  Electricity will be taxed higher too… better get out that sweater.

For as much rhetoric that I hear from the left about how they are looking out for the poor by robbing from the rich; it seems to me that they are looking out for themselves by robbing everyone.
